Hammersmith Hospital
Hammersmith
Hospital is a major teaching hospital in West London and is
part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, which is the largest Trust
in the country. The establishment of the UK’s first Academic
Health Science Centre (AHSC) brings together the delivery of healthcare
services, teaching and research in a partnership whose purpose is to improve
the health of its patients.
Hammersmith
Hospital serves as a referral center
for West London and is located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
Confusingly the hospital is north of White City adjacent to Wormwood Scrubs and
East Acton, rather than in Hammersmith.
Currently, HD disease patients and presymptomatic HD gene
carriers can see the members of our team in two different clinics located in
Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals. Both clinics are led by Dr Paola
Piccini, Consultant Neurologist.
The
patients in order to make appointments they have to
be referred by a GP.
The clinics provide:
•
Management of neurological symptoms
•
Management of psychiatric symptoms
•
Management of cognitive symptoms
•
About research and the opportunity to take part in research initiatives where
