About the Clinic

The Poole Euro-HD Registry is located within the Dorset Huntington's Disease clinical network.  This serves patients and families symptomatic, or at risk of HD.  It consists of:

   A community service provided principally by the community rehabilitation team; Disability Action, and the Dorset and Wiltshire HDA specialist nurse.
 
   A clinic service at Poole and Dorchester hospitals, with a specialist clinic for more complex HD patients held quarterly at Poole Community Health Clinic.  This clinic will be held more frequently as the register becomes established.
 
   A nursing home service provided by Dr Stephen Simpson, consultant psychiatrist.

Referrals are accepted for Dorset residents from any source, but may be checked first with the patient's own GP.  They should be addressed initially to Dr JPS Burn.

Our Aim

To provide on-going specialist care of HD patients and their families.  We do not discharge from continiued follow-up.
